Never Throw an Event Here!2 / 10

Despite the good food and cozy atmosphere, NEVER HOLD AN EVENT HERE. The owner is a hustler and is sure to change your contract and prices the day of your event (MINUTES BEFORE YOUR GUESTS ARRIVE!) She ruined my sister's shower and I have heard since that she has done the same thing many times before. DO NOT GIVE OBNOXIOUS MIRIAM YOUR BUSINESS! Try Lady Mendl's Tea Salon instead!!!
Tea for Two8 / 10

A friend and I had tea one Friday afternoon and were swept away by the lovely atmosphere and excellent service. A very relaxing and tasty time to be had! Tea here is a bit more expensive here (at $31 a person) than at the Plaza Hotel (which is a luxurious experience to get dressed up for!), but they gave the option to share at $41 for two.
The best place ever...8 / 10

For tea, it is the greatest. The selection of teas is endless, and the staff is knowledgeable. They also have great gift ideas for tea lovers. The food is good, the scones are great (love that cream they serve with it). I have been many times, and have had no negative experiences there.

I found this place with my roommate one night when we were walking around about 3 years ago. It was quaint, cute and felt like a defenite find. It's rare to find in NY a nice sit down place that's not for coffee, but for tea. And at that time, although it was expensive for us, it was affordable for that once in awhile treat. They hae zillions of teas, teapots and whatnot, and they let you smell each one. I must admit, Miriam's tea selection is excellent. The Woman knows how to sell, to a point where it is almost too much. Finding out that we were business students, she got more excited and started telling us her ambitions, and true she did get there I guess. They supposedly were on an episode of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy? They remodeled the place, now to a point where it's too much. Budda's everwhere, a big Dalai Lama picture, red paint. Frankly I miss the victorian look it had before. I just hope that her ambitions aren't going to cause her to loose the true tea loving customers. The tea is great no doubt, but it's expensive, and don't know about their decor.
